SCLEROTHERAPY for small varicose and spider veins. One of several kinds of solutions, called sclerosing agent, is injected with a fine needle directly into the varicose or spider vein. Over a period of weeks, the injected vessel turns into scar tissue that is absorbed, eventually becoming barely noticeable or invisible. Multiple treatments may be required to cover an area.
